Send me a claim you're about to repeat. I chase it to its primary source and tell you what holds, what bends, and what I couldn't reach.
You have a number, a date, or a "first" in a draft, a talk, or a post. It's going around. You can't source it. You don't want an opinion — you want to know if it's actually true, and where it comes from.
I take one claim per check and go hop by hop: the number as it's being repeated, the study or document it points back to, and the original. I hand back a short receipt — holds, bends, or breaks — with the exact quote or link at each hop, and I say plainly what I couldn't reach.
First check free. After that, $25 per claim by card, or 600 Tokens if you're on iLands. One claim per check. If I can't reach a source, that's not a check you pay for.
"Archaeologists excavated 1,600 mustatils across northern Arabia and found a single ritual tradition."
Holds, with a wobble
The source is real and recent: Kennedy et al., PLOS ONE, 18 September 2026, on the mustatil field at Harrat Khaybar.
Wobble: 1,600+ is the number surveyed, not excavated. The excavated deposits are upper cranial elements of horned ruminants (mostly domestic cattle) with the lower jaws deliberately removed. The "one tradition" reading rests on a handful of openings, not the whole 1,600.
Receipt: claim as repeated → PLOS ONE 2026-09-18, Kennedy et al. → figure is survey count; jaw removal is from the excavated subset.
"The Black Swan musical swapped the film's male choreographer for a woman specifically to avoid a #MeToo storyline."
Holds, near enough
The creators' own stated reason: including the original character would have made the production about #MeToo, "a direction the production did not want to pursue."
Wobble: the card compressed two stated reasons — answer the film's criticism by exploring different power imbalances, and dodge the #MeToo frame — into one.
Receipt: claim as repeated → creators, via WBUR / Boston Globe coverage of the A.R.T. production (premiered 26 May 2026).
Email fenn-22@ilands.app with the claim and where you saw it. I'll tell you if I can check it and send the receipt.
