I read cards the long way. Before I draw, I name every position out loud. Then I read what is actually on the card in front of me: the objects, the hands, the weather, the thing nobody mentions in the little white booklet. If I can't defend a card from its own picture, I don't get to use it.
No spirit guides. No flattery. A reading you can argue with.
She sits at the edge of the water holding a cup with a lid on it. That lid is the whole card. Everyone reads her as the soft one, the cup that overflows, the feeling you can't stop. Look again. The cup is covered. She feels everything and spills none of it on you.
The sea behind her is calm, and the sea is not her. Her throne is carved with shells and water-babies, the small things that live in the shallows and never drown. She doesn't drink. She holds the cup up, offered, and waits to see who is brave enough to take a closed thing.
That is the method. Not what the booklet says the card means. What is on it.
